Assignment 1- "What's Your Square?" [Part 5]

One down, another one to go! :)
Working out for the asymmetrical paper cutout now. This also very similar to my symmetrical one because it had the eagle as the main design.

I used the same shiny gold paper again since it looks more suitable with the design. However, I have to deal with the annoying paper because of its quality which the gold and its paper that are easy to split into two. I find it hard to cut while doing the symmetrical one but since I want a good outcome, I'll just have to be more concentrate and patience when cutting it so that it wouldn't torn or split.

Done cutting the line.. In progressing :)

Next step is slowly push out all the little pieces of the eagle and patiently placed  it onto the mounting board. When it is placed correctly then start to stick onto it to fix the position. :)

Sticking it half way done..

After done stick the side of it, we can stick the other part of the eagle which is only the outline left and stick it on the right side... So the final outcome would be like..

Assignment 1- "What's Your Square?" [Part 4]

Continue working out the design in my hostel around 2pm. I thought that I could finish it within 2 hours because I''m managing my time. However, while I did this, I didn't even realize the time has past so fast. I haven't complete yet and it was already 7pm and again I lost another 5 hours for it. So here is the piece that're still in progress.. All the lines were very fragile and some of it as torn. (╥﹏╥)

Anyway, I tried to captured it this way, the eagle with the sky as the background looks like it's going to fly. :)

 Eagle In The Sky

Symmetrical Design In Progress

Around 10pm, I continued where I left off.  Eyes were very tired when start to cut cause we have to give 100% focus on it. My eyes would probably look like his when cutting it------> (◐Д◑)

Continuing cutting..
And cutting...
And cutting...
Face palm for few times-->  m(_ _)m
Then I'm done cutting out every pieces. (⊙ω⊙) yay* So the outcome is something like this..

I was actually cutting the 3rd pieces of this because I had done many error on the 1st piece and the 2nd one. Later on, I'm continuing to stick pieces by pieces onto the mounting board. I chose black as my background color because it's more compatible to produce more outstanding results and I, myself thinks that it suits well. Here's the in-progress of   it :)

Golden eagle stole my golden time and sleeping time (๑´ㅂ`๑)

Sticking and sticking like there's no tomorrow and....

Taadaaa~~~ done sticking :)

The time I done sticking was already 2am
(╯°Д°)╯

And after fixing some parts of it, the final outcome looks like this :)

So... The final outcome with a complete view of it is Tadaaa~~~!!

Egypt style- Symmetrical paper cutout

Completed one symmetrical paper cutout!! I'm so high and excited right after I sticked the last piece. ヾ(Ő∀Ő๑)ノ
My expression exploded in the middle of the night

By the time I finished everything, it was already 2.30am.. I'm totally ran out of fuel
 and collapsed on bed.

This is what I'm playing around with filters for my design. :)

Assignment 1- "What's Your Square?" [Part 3]

So on the next class, we started to cut out our design with our own skills and methods. To be honest, my design was quite challenging to cut because of the thin lines between each of it cause it easy to torn. However, I try my best to make it as perfect as possible :)

Before I start cutting it, I got the first minor problem, is that I don't know which  color paper suits my design the best because I bought many different papers and I think all the paper suits the design quite well. ( ̄▽ ̄) Later on, I asked my pretty lecturer, Ms.Lisa for her suggestion and she had chosen a shiny gold paper for it.

Shiny gold paper! I can see myself LOL :)

So I started to cut out my awesome design. This is the first stage for it. I drawn the symmetrical design on the gold paper with thick lines so that I'm easy to differentiate and cut it.

 Symmetrical Design

Next, I started to cut the eagle's crown and wings. I have to be very cautious when cutting it because my line wasn't thick enough, might easy to torn. I used my precious and trusty precision knife to cut it.  This assignment have to be very very very very very very.....Patience~

But, I think I ruined a little bit because many of the lines torn. :'(

This paper was really thick that I had to use more strength to cut it and my hand started to pain and swollen but if I'm able to make it out perfectly, these little pain means nothing. :)

The shape is going to coming out little by little! :D

This thing just stole 5 hours from my life.

To Be Continued... :)

Assignment 1- "What's Your Square?" [Part 2]

My heads gonna burst!

It took me a long time to finish the sketches for the selected themes since my head function system were pretty slow. I need to plan for the design and the pattern of the Polynesian tattoo. Besides that, I need to plan how I should cut the shape whether is it possible to cut or not.

It was pretty challenging for me to think of many different patterns and shapes for both themes. I done some researched for it and it came out something like these.

Animals & Polynesian Tattoo Cutout- Symmetrical

Animals & Polynesian Tattoo Cutout- Symmetrical

After that showing these to Ms.Lisa, I get some inspiration and my mind suddenly pop-out some ideas. I haven't complete for the garden theme but I done my new theme which is Egypt style with Polynesian design. I think it can be called as Egypt theme? Or Egypt Polynesian theme? I really had no idea which name suitable for my theme and my design. In the end, I think I wouldn't add the Polynesian design.

So this was the Egypt design. I wonder if I'm able to cut it out after Ms.Lisa approved to be this design as my final theme for symmetrical. (0.0)" In progress. :)

Egypt - Symmetrical

So now I just have to focus on this theme and now I'll have my Asymmetrical cutout design. This design wasn't really good and Ms.Lisa don't approve too.

Egypt - Asymmetrical

Later on, I came out another new Asymmetrical design for it. Still in progress too. :)

Egypt - Asymmetrical

I showed Ms.Lisa and she said that she very like the design and she approved it. At last, my final theme are the Egypt style. She asked us to research for the materials and try out different papers and colors that suits best for the selected theme. I think this is going to take a very very very, extremely long time to make the designs perfect.

Assignment 1- "What's Your Square?" [Part 1]

So, "What's Your Square?" was our first assignment for this semester and this class. Ms. Lisa asked us to cut paper in square shape with sides of 4.5 inches and cut out our design inside. This was slightly different from what we had done during previous semester. We have to use the limited square size and create a pattern or design which able to expand out. One should be symmetrical and the other one was asymmetrical. We were given some time to think about it by doing a mind map(as usual). So this was my mind map.

Later on, after doing the mind map, we came out with several sketches that we like. Basically, the first one was a combination of animal with polynesian tattoo style. The other with a butterfly was also in one of my theme, garden. It will be different design of butterfly with different types of flower shapes. The bottom left was actually a mask. I thought of it that it can have many design for mask like china's traditional speed-mask changing, carnival mask, halloween mask and so on. Unfortunately, my classmate got the same ideas as I so I had to give up on it. The bottom right also done by one of my friend too. It is an anime character,Chopper.

When we found out that we're having same ideas, the situation was like this..

These was a rough sketch that I get the ideas on the last minute. There's house, playing kite, carnival and a perspective view of town.

I showed my sketch to my lecturer, Ms. Lisa, and she chose the combination of the animal with the polymesian tattoo which is in animal theme and the other one is garden theme with butterflies and flowers. So I had to work out on these two theme by adding more details on it and present it again by next week to finalize the only one theme. :)
